Viju Cherian

Country Manager & CEO

Mr. Cherian joined DTBT in September 2008. Prior to joining DTBT, he was the Managing Director of a bank in Kenya and the Treasurer of a commercial organization in New York. He held management positions with one of the larger banks in India for almost 3 decades. Mr. Cherian holds Bachelor of Laws (LLB) and Bachelor of Arts (Economics) degrees from the University of Bangalore.

He was also trained in commercial banking at Bank of New York, USA and is a Certified Associate of the Indian Institute of Bankers (CAIIB).

Mr. Madhava Murthy

(Chief Operations Officer)

Mr. Murthy joined DTB in November 2012 and he has 4 decades of banking experience in India, Botswana, and Zambia. He holds an MBA in Banking and Finance and is also a Certified Associate of Indian Institute of Bankers. He looks after overall operations of the bank. He is a Member of all the Management Committees within the Bank

Joseph Mabusi

(Chief Finance Officer)

Mr. Mabusi Joined DTB-Tanzania as Head of Finance in August 2006 after stints in Standard Chartered Bank Tanzania, Azania Bancorp and International Commercial Bank. Mr. Mabusi rose to the Chief Finance Officer position in 2016 following 10 years in the Finance Department. Mr. Mabusi is a Certified Public Accountant and a member of the National Board of Accountants and Auditors Tanzania (NBAA).

Thomas Otieno

Head of Risk Management

Mr. Otieno joined DTB-Tanzania in March 2001 and is one of the longest-serving members of the Senior Management team. Mr. Otieno has held managerial positions in different departments in DTB-Tanzania including Operations and Compliance before his appointment to Head the Risk Department in 2016. Mr. Otieno holds a Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com) with an Accounting major from the University of Dar es Salaam (1998).

Stella Masha

Head of Information Technology & Communications

Mrs. Masha joined DTB-Tanzania in March 2004 as ICT Manager and in January 2007 she was promoted to Head of ICT forming part of the DTB-Tanzania Senior Management team. Mrs. Masha worked as IT Manager for Capital
Finance Limited (CFL) for 8 years before joining DTB-Tanzania. Mrs. Masha holds a Master’s of Science in Computer Science from A&M University in Alabama, USA.

Kumar Dandapani

Head of Retail

Mr. Kumar Dandapani joined DTB-Tanzania in April 2016 as the Head of Retail Banking. Mr. Kumar is an experienced banker having worked with Bank ABC and Standard Chartered Bank in Nairobi, Kenya in management of Wealth, Channels & Partnerships. Mr. Kumar holds a Masters Degree in Business Administration from Symbiosis Institute of Management studies (2002).

Merciful Tasia

Head of Internal Audit

Mr. Tasia joined DTB-Tanzania in October 2004 as an officer in International Banking Department (IBD). In 2010, Mr. Tasia was promoted to Manager Operations and in 2016, was appointed as Head of Internal Audit (IAD). Mr.Tasia has banking experience of more than 30 years and had worked in several banks before joining DTB-Tanzania. Mr. Tasia is a CPA holder and a member of National Board of Accountant and Auditors (NBAA).

Makoye Ngofillo

Head – Human Resources Department

Mr. Makoye Ngofillo joined DTB-Tanzania in July 2018 to Head the Human Resources Department. Mr. Makoye is a qualified Human Resources practitioner with over 15 years of experience in Human Resources Management from Celtel Tanzania Limited (currently Airtel Tanzania Limited) and Simba NET (T) Ltd. Mr. Makoye has served in various roles including HR Operations & Analytics, Compensation & Benefits and Shared Services Mr. Makoye has a Bachelor Degree in Business Administration (Catholic University of Eastern Africa – 2000) and an MBA in Human Resources Management (University of Dar es Salaam -2004).

Bijal Patel

Head- International Banking Department

Ms. Bijal Patel joined DTB – Tanzania in 1999 and has since served the Bank diligently for the past 20 years in Branch Operations and International Banking Department. Ms. Patel is pursuing Banking Certification (Associate in Banking) with Tanzania Institute of Bankers (TIOB). Ms. Patel is currently heading the International Banking Department

Muhaimina Sultan

Head of Operations

Having been with DTB-Tanzania for 12 years, Ms. Sultan has headed various departments including Credit Administration, International Banking and Branch Management unit before her appointment as Head – Operations. Prior to joining the Bank, Ms. Sultan worked with Kenya Commercial Bank Ltd for 8 years. Ms. Sultan holds a Certificate of Business in Banking, Calculation and Communication from the Chartered Institute of Banking [C.I.B] – 1997.

Rifat Somji

Head of Projects

Mr. Somji joined DTB-Tanzania in February 2008 in the role of Manager – ICT. In 2011, Mr. Somji was appointed as Head of Projects to spearhead the newly established Projects Department as part of the Bank’s business objectives in the expansions of existing and new branch networks. Mr. Somji also served in the capacity of ICT Security Manager for the Bank. Mr. Somji holds a Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Computing and Information Systems

Ives Mlawi

Company Secretary & Head of Legal Department

Mr. Mlawi practiced law in Dar es Salaam for 3 years before joining DTB-Tanzania in April 2013 as a Legal Officer.
Mr. Mlawi was appointed as the Company Secretary and Head of the Legal Department in September 2014. Mr. Mlawi is an advocate of the High Court of Tanzania with a Post Graduate Diploma in Legal Education from the Law School of Tanzania (2011). Mr. Mlawi holds a Master’s degree (L.L.M) in Commercial Laws and an L.L.B (Hons)
from Mzumbe University (2009).

Ebrahim Alibhai

Head of Treasury

Mr. Ebrahim Alibhai joined DTB-Tanzania in 2014 as a Foreign Exchange and Money Market Trader in the Treasury Department; before his appointment as Head of Treasury in 2016. Mr. Alibhai is a certified Financial Dealer with a keen interest in markets and a deep understanding of Treasury Management. Mr. Alibhai holds a Degree in Economics and Politics at The University of Manchester (2008). Mr. Alibhai has also attended training on Fixed Income Portfolio Management at the National Institute of Bank Management (NIBM) in Pune, India.

Carlos Msigwa

Head of Compliance

Mr. Carlos Msigwa joined DTB-Tanzania in 2012 as a Branch Manager – Dodoma Branch and was later relocated to the Morogoro branch in 2013. Mr. Msigwa has over 13 years of banking experience in Branch Management having worked with Exim Bank and KCB Bank before joining DTB-Tanzania. Mr. Msigwa holds a Masters Degree in Accounting & Finance from Mzumbe University and Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com) in Accounting from the University of Dar es Salaam. Mr. Msigwa was appointed as Head of Compliance in February 2019.

Sylvester Bahati

Head of PR, Advertising & Communication

Mr. Bahati was appointed as The Head of PR, Advertising & Communication in 2013. He has 12 years of experience in the financial industry, having previously worked with Barclays Bank Tanzania and Bank M Tanzania in Sales, Service Delivery & Quality Assurance departments respectively. Mr. Bahati holds an Advanced Diploma in Marketing and Business Management and a Bachelor’s Degree in Economic Diplomacy and International Relations. Mr. Bahati has also attended training on Customer Relationship Management and Data Mining at the National Institute of Bank Management (NIBM) in Pune, India.

Betty Rupia

Head of Corporate Banking Department

Ms. Betty Rupia joined DTB – Tanzania in 2011 in the Corporate Banking Department. Ms. Rupia was appointed to the position of Head – Corporate Banking Department in September 2017. Ms. Rupia holds a Bachelor of Arts in Finance and International Business Management from Portland State University, Portland – the United States of America. She has also attended a training on Credit Management at the National Institute of Bank Management
(NIBM) in Pune, India.

Shahista Adam

Branch Manager – Dar es Salaam Main)

Ms. Shahista Adam Joined DTB-Tanzania in 2007 and has since served the bank for 12 years in different roles starting as an Officer in Centralized Operations before gaining promotion as Branch Manager Nyerere Road Branch. Ms. Adam started her banking career in 2004 at Habib African Bank Ltd and later joined Savings & Finance Commercial Bank (currently NIC Bank). Ms. Adam currently heads the banks flagship branch – Dar es Salaam Main Branch.
